About FLi

The Financial Literacy Institute (FLi) is focused on financial literacy and wealth management programs for university students, student influencers and the community. The mission is to leverage existing research and develop innovative approaches to programming in financial literacy and wealth management that will have a meaningful and measurable impact on DSU’s internal and external communities. FLi’s goal is broader than financial literacy. Financial literacy is a precursor to financial capability which encompasses a combination of knowledge, resources, access, experience, and habits. It is envisioned to be such an entity that will coordinate financial literacy efforts university wide, and provide expertise through its own staff, faculty champions, partners and subject matter experts.

FLi’s innovative student Touchpoint Multiplier approach through a student’s academic and professional journey is aimed at impacting current and prospective students, as well as alumni while serving the needs of the growing Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) profession. Using a mix of workshops, training, counseling, and group sessions with the support of both internal and external partners, FLi’s range of topics will lead to a lifetime of financial stability and wellness.

Charles Schwab Foundation provided the seed grant for setting up the institute in 2021.
